Background

Steve Oyer is a seasoned investment executive with over 40 years of business and investment experience. He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Sustainable Finance Partnerships, a platform for business and philanthropic endeavors, through which he advises family offices, companies, funds and select non-profits. In addition to his work with Earth Finance his focus is providing advisory expertise to companies committed to sustainability and impact, such as Borealis Foods, a mission-based food tech company listed on the NASDAQ, for which he is a board member and chairs the Audit, Governance, and Compensation Committees. Steve is a founding partner and advisor to Quake Capital Partners, a venture accelerator focused on startups spun out of university ecosystems. Most recently, he became an advisory partner to Sustainable Impact Partners, an impact-focused venture fund.

 

Steve’s leadership experience includes serving as CEO of i(x) Net Zero, a permanently capitalized holding company focused on energy transition and sustainability in the built environment. As a Senior Vice President at Lazard Asset Management, he led its Global Family Office Advisory Group. He was also a senior member of the Private Funds Group of Brookfield Asset Management, focusing on real assets and renewable investments. He was also a board member and the Audit Chair of Salton, Inc., a NYSE-listed designer, marketer, manufacturer, and distributor of branded small appliances like the George Foreman Grill.

Steve’s non-profit experience is extensive. Since 2019, Steve has served on the board of the Truth Initiative, America’s largest non-profit public health organization committed to preventing youth and young adult nicotine addiction and promoting mental health. He serves on the Investment, Governance and Audit Committees. He was a co-founder of Family Office University Network (FOUN), a nonprofit organization fostering collaboration between single family offices and universities, he is the principal organizer of its non-commercial initiatives at Stanford, NYU and most recently Oxford. Steve is also an active volunteer with the Climate Solutions Prize and Festivals, which advances cooperation and partnership with finance, industry, government and academia to support breakthrough solutions to the climate crisis. Steve has also served on the board and investment committee of the Florida Atlantic University’s Foundation.

Steve hails originally from Youngstown, Ohio and currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife, Lorri Staal, and they spend as much time as possible with their four children who live from coast to coast.
