As Senior Data Scientist at Earth Finance, John MacLean has 20+ years leveraging the power of data insight to solve complex challenges across organizations large and small. He has developed and scaled new analytical tools that have made decision makers smarter and nimbler at navigating the rapidly evolving landscape in which their organizations operate. John brings broad strategy, operational, and leadership expertise to Earth Finance, with additional focus on renewable fuels and decarbonizing aviation.
Prior to Earth Finance, John was the founder/principal at Northwest New Energy and played a vital role securing legislative support for multiple clean fuel initiatives across the country. His approach was to deliver data driven research influencing stakeholders that low carbon fuel programs would create positive outcomes for the health and wealth of its citizens. Before that, John spent 15 years as a Senior Consultant at Strong-Bridge and an FTE at Microsoft managing data technology programs designed to streamline decision making and improve organizational outcomes. John began his career at AT&T Wireless as a Product Manager focused on delivering valuable services for B2B clients.
John is an avid runner and makes it a priority to find time almost every day to hit the trails on Vashon Island where he lives with his family. He has volunteered for several clean energy related projects including an Aviation Biofuels workgroup back in 2013 and also raising money for candidates in 2020 who prioritized climate in their platforms.
John has an undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and an MBA from Seattle University earned while working full time in technology roles.
